It hit 170 million views from a brand-new account. Anthropic's own Alignment Science Lead publicly agreed, putting the odds above 10%. Alarming, right? Here's the part that got buried. The WSJ had an exclusive on the story 18 minutes before the thread even went live. The post was amplified within 10 minutes by a cluster of policy organizations all connected to the same billionaire who led Anthropic's Series A. The coordination behind this is now the actual story.

None of that means the safety concerns are fake. It means you should read the policy fallout carefully. When "AI could kill us all" framing catches this much institutional wind, the likely downstream effect is regulation: licensing requirements, liability rules, compliance costs. Those costs land on the smaller AI vendors you use, not on Anthropic. The tools in your stack could get more expensive or disappear behind enterprise walls. Keep an eye on what gets proposed in the next few months.

DeepSeek just made "frontier AI" pricing look silly. DeepSeek released V4.1 Flash, an open-weight, multimodal model that runs faster and costs less than comparable U.S. frontier models.
